CMoy in 2022

Hi everyone,

 

I built a headphone amp some years back using the CMOY design available here: https://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy/

 

I wonder if there is a better alternative now in 2022? Does anyone know any opamps that would be better than the Burr Brown OPA2132PA or 2134?

 

Thinking of making a new CMOY but perhaps lower power/better sound quality?

 

Interested to hear people's thoughts!

It is best to check the OP sound in the given application yourself. The same system may play differently each time. There are many op-amps among op-amps that don't cost a fortune that are worth trying. OPA1642 is interesting, this is the first example that came to my mind.

Thanks for that! An interesting choice, I've not got any experience with that one. You're right, it's hard to tell until I can test myself but always interesting to hear about the experience of others.

I've often heard people say the Burr Brown amps have a "laid-back" sound compared to others.
